Whiteheart padded through the forest early in the morning, patrolling as he usually did. He was alone as usual. He liked it that way at times, it left him to his thoughts. At other times, such as this one, he liked to be around others. He didn't have to think then, didn't have to remember his past. He longed to talk to someone about it, but he couldn't, he couldn't relive it.
Whiteheart sighed as he laid down heavily on the slab of rock overlooking Small Pond. He could see his reflection, as well as the fading stars of Silverpelt. Whiteheart found himself wondering yet again why his life had to be this way. Wondering, yet at the same time hoping, if this was the end of his long journey. Wondering if he had indeed found his home.
"Just send me a sign," Whiteheart meowed, looking at Silverpelt's slowly fading reflection.

Sagestar was half asleep, his eyes tired. He was usually the first to wake up in the clan, but some of the other cats were awake now. He had slept in. . He hadn't known why anyone hadn't awoken him. He yawned, stretching out and standing up. He licked his fur slowly, his ear twitching. He got up and moved outside of his den, looking at the warriors around. The sun had just began to rise. He flicked his ear as he walked, saying hello to all the warriors and apprentices that he passed. He decided to walk through the territory. It was the easiest thing to do. And he loved doing so. . There were no patrols yet, so he might as well catch something. He loved being a warrior. He wished he was still one, and not a leader, at times. But as a leader, it was much better. .
He walked towards the small pond in his clan. He surveyed his territory as he moved, moving slowly to try and not alert any prey that he was coming. He did not want any of the hunting patrols to not catch anything later. His clan would starve. . A clan that would always be his clan. He smiled brightly as he walked, picking up the scent of another. Sagestar's mouth opened slowly to try and scent who it was. It was his deputy, Whiteheart! He smiled slightly as he walked, following the scent trail and appearing beside Whiteheart. He could hear him speaking, but could not tell what he had said.
"Hello, Whiteheart." He said to the deputy, smiling slightly and looking into the pond, then at the sky. The skies were a pretty shade of blue. His eyes sparkled as he looked back to his deputy. "Beautiful day it is."

Whiteheart looked up as Sagestar spoke, jerked out of his thoughts. It took him a moment to register what his leader had just said before he nodded slowly. "Good morning, Sagestar. It is indeed a beautiful day outside. What are you doing up so early?" Whiteheart meowed, trying to push his thoughts to the back of his mind. Whiteheart bit back a sigh, looking at his young leader. He seemed so happy, so carefree. Whiteheart wondered how he managed to do that, every second of the day he worried about he Clan as well as his former home. He growled softly to himself and dug his claws into the stone as he remembered the day he left. Whiteheart shook himself slightly and sat up, hoping Sagestar had not noticed. He did not want to burden his leader with his troubles. (OOC: glad you're back Blair! It was getting kinda lonely without you. I missed RPing with you! )

Sagestar looked up, the wind hitting his face. He could feel that prey was going to come out any time. He couldn't wait to catch some. . To provide for the clan and even better than that, provide for everyone. Their clan wasn't the strongest, but they were strong enough to provide for each other. They could live through a drought and anything else that StarClan threw their way. Sagestar felt older, almost, but at the same time, younger. He felt like he could attack any member of another clan that threatened him or any member of his clan, to try and begin a fight. He felt. . ready. He felt. . His ear twitched. He felt prepared. And when he would throw himself into a fight, he would remember that he was sacrificing others' lives as well.
"Ah, well . . I just felt like I should get a head start on the day. You only live once, you know.'' He reminded his spry deputy, glancing at him. He knew that he could pace the leadership down to the next generation. He knew that Whiteheart would be great at leading the clan once he passed. Sagestar flicked his tail briefly. He knew, positively knew, that this deputy could fight and defend the clan very, very well.
And when the leader's time came for him to die, the clan would be able to go on without him. And they would conquer the other three clans. . He had a light smile on his face, licking the side of his fur. He stretched, then glanced at his sides. He wasn't extremely old, but he was beginning to get a lighter shade of fur. He was ready for someone else to lead the clan, but at the same time he had to live out how he was. . After all, he still had all eight of his lives. There hadn't been anything yet that was huge enough to take a large portion of his lives. And he hoped that there wouldn't.

Whiteheart nodded slowly at his leader's response, a thoughtful look on his face. Silently he wondered to himself if he would be ready to lead RussetClan should his leader pass. He was supposed to have led the cats of his old home but...that didn't happen. He smiled slightly at Sagestar, glad that he was RussetClan's leader. "I know what you mean. But in your case, it would be 'you only live nine times.' RussetClan is lucky to have a leader like you, Sagestar. StarClan made a wise choice when they chose you. With any luck, you will lead your Clan for many seasons more," Whiteheart meowed. Whiteheart's ear twitched as he felt the fur on the back of his neck rise. He turned his head toward some nearby bushes and narrowed his eyes slightly, tasting the air. The wind was blowing away from them, making him incapable of detecting any scent. Whiteheart shook himself again and faced toward the pond, hoping he was imagining things yet at the same time staying wary and alert for signs of danger. (Good thing Sunstar has at least nine lives then

Sagestar watched his deputy, then looked back at the area around him. The wind was hitting his face again, and he then realized how windy it was. There were no scents coming his way. Well, that's odd. He thought as his eyebrows furrowed. His green eyes darker than usual. He looked around. He could see everything around him, so if anything just so happened to attack, he would be ready. . But he didn't think anything would attack. Not at the moment. But at the same time, he tried to stay alert, listening. But the only thing he could hear was the wind hitting his fur and his face. . Odd. .
He looked at the lake. He could see the reflection of everything in it. It was so beautiful, a great addition to the territory. And so many cats took the nature around them for granted. It was a pity to do so. It was so, so beautiful. His eyes searched as the trees moved with the wind, as it howled easily. It was going to be a long and windy day. His fur felt prickly. Something was telling him . . well, something, but he couldn't tell what. He ignored it. If StarClan needed to tell Silentstar something, they would tell him. And in the mean time without it, he would enjoy the day and how long it was. He smiled easily and looked back at the other cat.
"Yes, that is true." Silentstar laughed at him. "I meant in your case you only live once. I'm like nine of you, I guess?" He said, his ear twitching with a small laugh.

Whiteheart smiled slightly, still very alert to his surroundings. If there was an enemy hidden waiting to attack, he would not be caught unawares. He looked around at the trees, bushes, and lake. Slowly, he began to plot how he could use this terrain to his advantage if and when their stalker decided to show themselves.
"Indeed, Sagestar. Though, sometimes, even once is too much. But to live nine times....well, I can barely imagine it," Whiteheart responded.
Whiteheart's ear twitched again as he heard the muffled sound of a breaking twig. For once, he was glad of the sharp ears he had inherited from his father. He growled slightly, silently daring their attacker to come out and face them.
"Sagestar, do you get the feeling that we're being watched?" Whiteheart whispered, keeping his voice level and calm so that their predator would not notice that they were catching on to them.
(Wait....when did Sagestar become Silentstar? :3 )

Sagestar felt even more alert. His body began to sit up automatically, trying to find the trace of what was making him feel so . . odd. It made him feel even more alert than usual. Usually, he was a little bit alert, but now? He felt more alert than ever. His eyes darted from one side to the other. Then he glanced back at the deputy. Something was wrong with this picture. Quickly,he felt another twig, as it randomly went SNAP! Sagestar's ear twitched. At the question that he had been asked, he nodded silently, rigid. The intruder obviously didn't notice that they noticed him, but he could not smell anything. Sagestar began to tell Whiteheart that they were being watched and that they should approach whatever it was, when he heard a low, rippled snarl. Before Sagestar could react, he flew around, looking for whatever it was, and saw two red eyes staring back at him. Before he could warn Whiteheart, the animal attacked.
Sagestar automatically hissed with hatred as it lunged. The orange and white body and large fangs were already closing in on him. Automatically, he thought, Fox! As it lunged, it tackled him to the ground, inches away from where the water began. It tore at his flesh and clawed at his underbelly. Sagestar let out a rippled moan and tackled the fox, but it was to no avail. It continued to attack the other cat. Sagestar was losing blood easily. Great StarClan help me! He thought, his claws hitting aimlessly around, trying to find the intruder. He hit it's right flank a few times, causing a huge gash.

"Sagestar!" Whiteheart yowled, leaping onto the fox's back and sinking his long fangs into its left shoulder.
The fox reared back with a yelp, knocking Whiteheart off. Whiteheart rolled as he landed and snarled as he felt claws slash his right shoulder. He winced slightly in pain and took the weight off his right foreleg, instead distributing it to his hind legs. Whiteheart leaped, landing on the fox's head, clawing his face with unsheathed claws, before jumping off, aiming for the trunk of a nearby tree. He climbed as quickly as he could with his shoulder wound. By the time he reached the closest branch, his shoulder felt as though it was about to fall off.
Whiteheart looked down, watching the fox jump and snap his jaws, all the while barking. The fox soon gave up and turned his attention back to Sagestar. Whiteheart hissed angrily. Not even Sagestar stood a chance facing a full grown fox on his own. Even with his help, they would both die. Whiteheart growled as he realized he had no other choice: he had to lead the fox away.
"Get away from him, you badger-breathed mousebrained fleabag!" Whitheart snarled, scrambling down the tree and facing the fox, ignoring the blood dripping from his shoulder.
(I totally get that. I keep on trying to put Star instead of Whiteheart then have to go back and change it :/)

Sagestar tried to stand and face the fox when it slashed at him and Whiteheart. When Whiteheart was in front of him, the fox licked his lips. This fox wasn't going to leave without a fox. He crouched for a moment, taking in all the possibilities of this warrior. How he could get for the easier kill. Or what he felt was the easier kill. He didn't know that the leader had nine lives.
The fox jumped at Whiteheart, biting his chest and attempting to throw him. The fox rammed into Sagestar, as he would hit a rock behind the three of them. The both of them slammed into it, Sagestar passing out. The fox clawed at him before he was pulled away by Whiteheart. He yelped, scratching with a extreme hatred fueling his grasp. The fox took a few steps back, as Whiteheart was cornering him. The fox felt as if he couldn't win. These cats would call in the rest of their clan, and.. The fox took a few steps back. Annoyance.
How could this fox get past both of these cats? It felt impossible to him. His claws began to re-sheathe, contemplating which way he should go if he was going to retreat. The fox looked to the left, then back to the right. He smirked, then ran to the left as a fake out, then back to the right. He succeeded.
