Whiteheart glared angrily at the fox, growling deeply as he did so. The fox was trying to fake him out, trying to retreat. Whiteheart let him, knowing that if this battle continued any longer, they would die. As the fox ran away, Whiteheart's shoulders sagged in exhaustion and he nearly collapsed from blood loss. However, he walked over to where Sagestar still laid unconscious.
"Sagestar?" Whiteheart meowed anxiously, putting a paw on his leader's chest.
Whiteheart's anxiety increased as he felt Sagestar's breathing get shallow and heavy and his pulse began to slow. Whiteheart growled slightly as he realized Sagestar was losing a life, wether it was his first or his last, he was unsure. Either way, he knew there was no way he could get the necessary herbs that could save Sagestar's life without dying from the blood loss.

Sagestar barely remembered anything. When he looked around, he saw StarClan cats surrounding him. They were all looking rather smart, staring into his blue colored orbs. His body was tired with shock. What had happened? Had he died?! He stared at a cat who seemed to come out of the StarClan ranks that were all around him. He wanted to ask him a question. How he got here. He had never lost a life, so this would be his first. How was he already in StarClan, a part of their ranks? Just then, a cat that looked like him, exactly, approached him. When he stared at it, it seemed to look.. Almost.. see through. Then, it brightened, just barely. Sagestar stared at the other StarClan cat before him.
"Every time you die, your soul here gets brighter, ready to join our ranks. This is your first life, Sagestar. Not all cats get that." Not all cats.. Not all cats get to live nine times? Well, he understood that. He stared at the cat and nodded feverishly. What else did he need to know before he returned to the world? Did these StarClan cats have a omen for him? He looked at everyone. They seemed to just be sitting around, not moving. Staring at him. Some smiled, some he recognized. Some he had no idea who they were. Some were faded almost to where their souls would disappear soon. Noone know. He couldn't tell.
"We only healed what killed you. You need to get back to earth. Goodbye, Sagestar." And with that, everything seemed to fade, he began to speak, but it seemed almost that he was forced back into reality. He stirred, and felt a heeping of pain. He stopped stirring, staring back at the face that was staring at him. Whiteheart was staring at him. His deputy.
"..T-That was just my first life. Don't worry..Gah.. I cant move.." Sagestar tried to stand, but it was to no avail. He could feel blood loss beginning to set in. What if he lost another one of his lives? His heart pounded with stress.

"Sagestar! You must stay awake! We have to hope that the others will find us!" Whiteheart hissed through the pain.
Even as he spoke, Whiteheart found himself trying to fight off the eternal slumber that awaited him. Though he longed for the numbing peace, he would not close his eyes. Would not let his leader die. He swore an oath that he would not die until his mission was complete.
Slowly, Whiteheart drug himself over to some moss that grew on a nearby tree, ignoring the searing pain that shot through his body as he did so, and brought it over to Sagestar. He looked Sagestar over, inspecting his wounds. He frowned slightly as he realized that Sagestar might possibly lose another life from all the blood loss. He put moss on the wounds, trying to stop the blood.

Sagestar could feel himself weakening. But he wasn't going to lose a second life over a fox. He was stronger than that to lose something that most cats didn't get. He tried to stand, trying to ignore the pain on his back side rippling through his body. He shook his head and glanced at his deputy. He was also hurt pretty bad. This was horrible. They had to get back to camp. But it was a whole territory away, and he couldn't just send Whiteheart to do a duty that was his own. He was not going to fall. He was going to conquer. His eyes narrowed as he took a few steps forward, a light adrenaline pumping through the black cat's veins. He tried not to groan in pain as he walked, his claws unsheathing and embedding into the ground with every step. When he reached across the clearing, he felt like he was going to die. "We have to get back to camp." He whispered as he walked, a hiss in his voice. He glanced at his deputy and tried desperately to walk.
Come on. He thought, hissing, trying not to think about how badly he was hurt. If he thought about it it would only feel worse. Pain was just a state of mind. That's what his mother had always told him. He didn't want to forget that. He wanted to believe her. The little bit of adrenaline was beginning to fade as he walked, barely being able to get a few feet before stopping again. But it didn't matter how long it took. All that mattered was that he got back to camp or at least far enough to scream for help.. He narrowed his eyes and continued to walk. He was brave. He had the courage to continue on this journey. He could feel a thick layer of blood at his side beginning to drip on the tiny leaves that were under his paws. Great.

Whiteheart watched as Sagestar slowly rose to his feet and padded across. Whitheart closed his eyes, ask for StarClan to send him the strength he needed to walk. He rose slowly, growling in pain as he did so. He padded up next to Sagestar, who he noticed was still bleeding heavily. Whiteheart looked around desperately for any kind of herbs that could help. His eyes eventually landed on a juniper bush. Thinking back, he remembered that juniper berries gave you strength.
"Sagestar, we should eat some of these. Otherwise, I don't think we'll make it to camp," Whiteheart grunted as he slowly hobbled over to the bush.

Sagestar felt empty inside. Was he going to be able to live? If he somehow was able to, it would be a rather big miracle. He was looking at the other cat beside him. He would make a good leader once Sagestar passed.. He tried not to smile as he walked towards the juniper berries and began to eat one. He felt his body strengthen, but only just. He was still a long way away from camp. Maybe they'd run into a patrol that could help them. But he needed help. Fast. He didn't know how he was going to get it but it was going to need to happen sooner rather than later. After eating a third berry, he hobbled again, stopping every few feet now. He would make it. He refused to die. He wasn't the kind of cat who was going to lay there and allow himself to die, waiting on something to save him. He was going to save his own life. He would do it no matter what. If it took too long, then hell, it would take even longer. He continued to hobble as he walked, walking faster now, hoping that he was not going to fast for young Whiteheart.
Sagestar continued to walk. It wouldn't be long. They would be at camp soon. His eyes were filled with pain but determination. He wasn't going to lay there and let all the lives bleed out of him. He was going to live. He could never, ever just die. It wasn't part of his vocabulary. He walked with a determined stance. He would get there. No matter how long it took or how short it took. He wasn't going to fail Whiteheart and he wasn't going to fail himself. If he failed himself, it would be the only thing that he had failed himself at before. He refused to do that. He wasn't going to fail himself. It wasn't going to happen. He continued to walk, determination on his tiny black face. The facade he was giving was just as simple.

Whiteheart's muscles twitched slightly as he finished his last berry. He felt strength return to him, though he knew it was only temporary. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and continued on behind his leader. With each pawstep, he remembered his journey to get here he. He had walked through the blistering winds of snowy mountains, endured the scorching heat of deserts. He had fought off dogs, wolves, badgers, and a number of other vicious creatures. He would not allow himself to die because of one stupid fox.
He raised his head, growling slightly in defiance of death. He picked up the pace slightly, ignoring as his muscles screamed in protest. He raised his tail slightly as he scented the air. The fresh scent of RussetClan met him immediately.
"A patrol just passed recently. We can make it," Whiteheart sighed with relief.

Sagestar could feel himself getting even weaker at the thought of dying. But he wasn't going to die. He couldn't die. There was something stirring inside him that told him that he had died once, why not die the other eight times? It was only his first life, but still. He didn't like it. He hated dying. And the deputy that was beside him? He only had one life. He literally did only live once. He was glad he had died instead of Whiteheart. The cat would be a great deputy once Sagestar's time came, whether it be now or much much later. Hopefully, he thought, it would be much much later.
Sagestar trudged on, feeling like his paws weighed eighty pounds. He could smell the RussetClan patrol, unable to smell whom of which was in it. But it didn't matter. They had walked this way twenty minutes ago, there was no way they were still here. He would have collapsed and called for help, but he decided against it. And what about their medicine cat? What were they supposed to do about them? What if they were out? Sagestar felt horrible, his eyes droopy. He could see the entrance to the clan in the distance.

Whiteheart looked over at his leader, noticing as his eyes began to droop.
"Here, lean on me," Whiteheart meowed, padding closer and slowing his pace.
They were so close to the camp, they couldn't fail now. The thought of coming all this way just to die...well, Whiteheart didn't even want to think about it. He had a life to live, he had to go back to his old home one day and save them. Now, he started to realize that he may never get that chance. He had his new Clan to look after, a new Clan that he could not, would not fail. He started wondering when he started considering RussestClan his Clan, rather than others.

Sagestar stared at Whiteheart, glancing from the camp entrance back to him. He could tell that Whiteheart was tired, but he didn't want him to fall with Sagestar's weight on him. They wouldn't just die. It was impossible, an impossible feeling for the older black cat. His eyes filled with light rage at death, then he glanced over at Whiteheart with a much softer expression.
"No. I can make it. I would hate to be the reason you fell." Sagestar muttered. Hopefully, Whiteheart was able to hear it. Sagestar took a few steps forward, making it a few more feet and his front legs collapsing onto the ground, falling to the ground. No. He wouldn't just lay there like a idiot. He would make it. He had to make it. He stared at the camp.. They could hear him, if he just yelled.. He couldn't, though, his throat hurt much too much. His head collapsed in the leaves, groaning softly in pain. He wasn't going to die.. He just.. "I need to rest for a second.." He whispered. The world was becoming dizzy..
