Whiteheart growled slightly in frustration and nipped at Sagestar's hindlegs.
"Get up, Sagestar, we're almost there. We are going to make it into that camp together, even if I have to drag you by the scruff of your neck," Whiteheart meowed, his long white fangs flashing.
Whiteheart was tired, exhausted, and losing blood fast. However, he would not give up hope. StarClan had led him this far, they would not fail him now. Whiteheart raised his head proudly before walking stiff-legged in front of Sagestar and looking down at him challengingly.

When Sagestar looked up, he couldn't even see his bloody clan mate. The whole world was so dizzy that he couldn't see half-fox-lengths in front of him. It hurt his eyes to see, so he closed them. He tried to get up, and he failed. He could feel a nip at his hind legs and he flinched back. He would not die. There was something inside him slowly fighting against him, telling him that he must live. And that something was Whiteheart. He couldn't allow for his deputy to die.. Even if Sagestar felt badly, there was no reasoning behind it. He had to make it. Why didn't he make it? He had another eight lives left. It wasn't like Whiteheart had more than one life. He only had one. And Sagestar wasn't going to waste the life of a great deputy, one of the best of his kind. Sagestar must allow himself to continue. With his eyes closed and his body feeling ten times heavier than it actually was, he heaved up on his forepaws and began to walk, hubbling even faster than he had before.
Sure the leader tripped a few times because of his eyes closed, but at the same time.. He couldn't see. It felt impossible to be able to see. A groan hit the back of his throat as he walked. He could smell his clan.. They were so close.. Sagestar could feel himself collapse at the entrance of the clan. No. He could barely make it inside.. He tried to heave himself up and he threw himself into the camp, a light hatred for everything around him hitting. He never wanted to get up again.. To just sit there while he was dying slowly. He opened his eyes, barely, and regretted that he did. He could see cats rushing around him. They were trying to get him some cobwebs.. Food.. Water.. Anything.. Sagestar croaked open his mouth with a light annoyance.
"Get.. To Whiteheart first.. I have e-eight lives.. I can handle it.." He could feel everyone shaking with fear at the thought of eight lives. Eight lives? They were thinking. But I've never seen him lose a life! Now they were rushing even more. It seemed that almost everyone was helping.
"Get back, get back." Hissed a cat he knew as Jayfrost. "Will one of you that has good understanding of herbs go get me chamomile, celadine, cobwebs, comfrey.. And maybe some thyme?" He could feel another cat shoot up while others were running back around to get away from a medicine cat at work. Some others asked her if she needed anything, and some she sent to look for more herbs. The others, she just told to stay away until she needed them.
"What happened to you two? Shh. Don't speak. What hurts?" Jayfrost whispered in her most soothing voice.

"We were at Small Pond. Sagestar and I were talking, but we could sense something was there with us. Turns out, it was a fox. We managed to chase it off, but Sagestar lost a life. We managed to drag ourselves back here, barely though," Whiteheart meowed, his eyes pained.
Whiteheart growled, angry at himself for letting this happen. He had promised to protect his leader, and he had failed. Because of his carelessness, Sagestar had lost a life.
"Sagestar, I'm so sorry! I should have protected you better! Forgive me, my friend!" Whiteheart blurted out, his eyes meeting Sagestar's.

Jayfrost glanced at Sagestar. He was obviously the more wounded of the two, although they both seemed pretty banged up. She had seen things like this a few times, a fox fighting warriors off to try and get some spare meat. They had almost become meat for the fox. Gladly, this hadn't happened. And their lives would not be wasted. Jayfrost had to save them. The determination in her body began to get her body running, quickly assessing Sagestar's wounds. She could feel his left foreleg that he had been dragging had been broken, and the wound was very badly infected. She began to break the comfrey leaves and slowly allowing it to aid the large looking leader. He was strong, which counted a lot for him. She looked at Whiteheart and slowly tossed him chamomile.
"Eat those, please. And lie down for StarClan's sake. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get to both of you, and you're just stressing yourself out." There was a light hiss, a warning, in her voice, as she said it, but there was still a hint of what she was trying to soothe. She was only being a medicine cat, and she needed to be assertive with her words in a time like this. She began to chew some alder she had at her side, spitting it onto the wound to help heal infection. She did the same with all the infected wounds she saw, wrapping them softly with cobwebs. None of them were actively bleeding and she only saw his front leg that was broken, which was good in a few ways. She then moved on to Whiteheart, glancing at a warrior around her to keep Sagestar company.
"Now, tell me. What hurts? Sagestar will be fine. He's unconscious. He needs rest. He lost a life, if you didn't know. And he's going to need immediate care after I'm done with you. But he did point out the obvious, you only have one life to live. What hurts?" Her voice was nothing but soothing now, her eyes looking into Whiteheart's tired ones.

Whiteheart sighed and nodded at the medicine cat's words before eating the chamomile. He assessed his own injuries, digging his claws into the ground as his pain returned. Due to all the excitement, anxiety, and adrenaline, Whiteheart had not noticed-either that or he had ignored- the pain that was coursing through his body right now.
"I have a bad bite on my left shoulder, plus a few scratches on my sides. I think I'll be fine, it's the one on my shoulder that needs the most attention now," Whiteheart responded, looking over at Sagestar.
Compared to those of his leader's, Whiteheart's injuries weren't all that threatening. Whiteheart did, however, feel slightly dizzy from the large amount of blood lost. Through his haze of pain and dizziness, Whiteheart began to wonder if he was cut out to be deputy. After all, if he couldn't protect his leader, how could he protect his Clan?
