The heat blazed down on young Rosepaw's back as she walked through the swamp. She had already caught two normal sized frogs, and eaten a small mouse. Breaking the warrior code. Pfft, like she cared. Her whole body seemed to be sweating with heat, her amber eyes glaring up at the sun.
Why did it have to be so hot? She asked herself as she walked, her tail slashing behind her. Her pelt was slightly in a downward position as she walked, because she had already gotten it wet trying to get the frog she had caught. Stupid frog. Stay on the freaking land, for StarClan's sake.
No, she thought, her eyes narrowed. Not for StarClan's sake. For her own sake. StarClan didn't need to help her with prey, or anything else, for that matter. Her teeth bared slightly as she reached the edge of the swamp.
Dear god, it reeked. Smelt of dead frogs and other dead.. stuff. She settled onto a clean looking lilypad and looked up at the scorching sun, a glare on her face that usually scared most warriors. Hopefully, it'd scare that sun..
She looked down at the water, which seemed to be calling out to her. It was so dirty, and-after she put a paw into it-so warm. It was probably mad. She casted it a soft glance of apology.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, for only the water to hear. "If I could get the sun to stop being so bright, I would."
The water, she thought, with a sigh. It was the only thing that truly understood her, understood her pain.

Firefly padded quickly through the swamp, taking in all of the magnificent scents. It doesn't really smell that bad. Of course it doesn't smell like roses and flowers. . He continued to breathe, trying to find anymore scents of prey. Let's see. . I've caught a few frogs. And I found a lizard. But I couldn't catch it. It was pretty fast. . But I'll catch it next time. He suddenly picked up a cat's scent. Who's scent might that be? Well, it has to be a cat from my own clan. Because they smell like it. . Maybe we could hunt together. If they want to that is. He followed the scent, although he kept his eyes out for any prey that might cross his path. I doubt prey would just jump in front of me. They aren't that stupid, right? But they probably are. . I mean, if they weren't stupid then they wouldn't get caught. He was now having a small debate with himself. He usually does when he is all alone. Since he has no one to talk to and there are many things that could get him in a debate. But he hated getting into debates with other cats, because he was usually always wrong. The scent is getting closer. .

Rosepaw's eyes drifted back to the water. It was so beautiful. If only it was cleaner, if only you could see through the water. The water probably didn't like being so green.. She sighed softly, then focused on the world around her.
Within the swamp, she heard just about nothing unless she really listened. She heard a bird, seeming like a mocking jay, calling out a sweet tune to the rest of the world. It was probably blue, and a male. She smiled at the thought and continued. She heard the trees rustling and probably using that to speak with each other. She heard the soft sound of crunching leaves--
Wait. Crunching leaves? She listened closer. It was coming from behind her, and it was a warrior. He seemed larger than usual, probably two times as big as herself even with her fluffy pelt. And he seemed to have a giant pelt; the edge of his pelt rustling against the side of the trees..
It was a warrior, and it seemed like a male because of it's size. She listened closer, then smelt. It seemed that it was a warrior of her clan. She sat up fully, then looked down slightly at the water.
Great, wish me luck, Water. . I'm going to have to talk to this lunatic.

He spotted Rosepaw, smiling slightly. Isn't it that crazy she-cat who likes to talk to herself. .Well I shouldn't be talking. I enjoy talking to myself too. . But she takes it literally. He padded closer to her, his fluffy tail twitching slightly. " Hey there, how's the hunting going? " She's only an apprentice. . Where is her mentor? I don't think she should be out hunting all by herself. It's dangerous in the swamp areas. . Something might eat her. Like a large bird. . Or maybe a giant lizard. Well, those things seem highly unlikely. I haven't seen a giant lizard . . and I don't think they even exist. If they did we probably wouldn't allow apprentices or new warriors out in the swamp . . He was now quietly debating with himself. Getting a sudden headache in doing so. I should just stop thinking for a while. I bet I'm making interesting faces. Because when I think I make faces. . And that freaks other cats out sometimes. . His ear twitched slightly, listening for any sounds. Trying to hear any prey that might be walking or slithering through the swamp lands.

Rosepaw didn't move when he spoke, her left ear only twitching slightly. She hated talking to others.. Especcially, oh especcially, when they asked her something that she had to answer.
Had he heard her speaking to Water? Maybe he thought she was talking to herself. When she realized that the said cat was now sitting beside her, she turned her head to the left side where he was.
Rosepaw realized that it was Firefly; one of the kind characters of the clan. When he spoke, his voice was slightly loud in her ear, and made her ear softly twitch. She wasn't used to cats speaking to her. Firefly was one of the, I guess you could say, nicer cats in the clan.
That was an understatement. He was eager to be kind to everyone else. But that didn't matter. CardinalClan was an evil clan, with a.. evil leader. It didn't matter anymore. Already taken over by Silenstar. Might as well make the best of it.
First she had to reply to.. him.
"Hello. I caught two frogs, yes. Pretty good hunting day." She responded, her eyes barely turning to his, her amber eyes burning into his without her even realizing such was happening.
She smiled slightly, then turned back away, her face over looking the small swamp.

" Ah, that's good I suppose. I also caught two frogs. . and I almost had a lizard. But those things are fast. . " He noticed that she had turned away from him. Well, maybe she wants to be left alone. . " Hey, do you wanna be left alone or something? " His tail twitched awkwardly. He always had trouble speaking to other's. Especially if they were female. It's not like I'm attracted to her or anything. . that would be sick. She's younger than me. . He now felt very awkward. " Well, it seems like you wanna be left alone. So I'll just continue my hunt. " That's a lie, I just feel too disgusted and awkward now to talk to her. But I'll eventually forget about it. .

Rosepaw turned her head back to his, carefully. She slightly -- but only slightly -- smiled. Which was something she rarely did. She held back from saying, Of course I want to be left alone.
"Eh, it's fine." She responded, her tail twitching as well beside his. She could barely believe what she was saying. She should be shooing him away to go hunt.
"You can stay if you want. I don't care." Rosepaw secretly, but only slightly, wanted him to stay. But it didn't matter. Most cats left her alone anyways.
It's not like it mattered. Everyone had left her alone since the day she was born. Usually, they'd give her a chance, and she'd push them away. It was only the water that truly understood, the only one who truly never ran, who just sat there and listened..
Rosepaw stood fully now, shaking her pelt off, trying not to mess up his or her pelt, then turning fully to him.
"What'd you want to do? Hunt?"
She asked him easily, tilting her head slightly to the question, her amber colored eyes looking straight into his green{?} ones.

" We can hunt, because that means we'll have more food for the clan. " He said the words cheerfully, but he sensed something. It's gonna rain. I can feel the humidity. His tail twitched slightly, he hated heat a lot. He'd rather just be in a nice cool area, like under a tree. Where he was protected and there was shade. Ah well, I still gotta continue my hunt. I'd like to get at least another frog. Or catch that miserable lizard. . He stared at her, his pale green eyes looking a bit brighter. But they went dull again as a storm cloud past by. Yup, it's gonna rain soon. He turned his attention to the sky, frowning slightly. "Looks like it might rain though. But that's okay with me, it'll only make me feel a lot less hot. "

Rosepaw looked up at the sky at the thought of rain. Rain, she thought with a soft sigh. It sounded so good to her..
Rain. She looked down at the water. Rain was a part of water, falling down from the sky with such beauty that made her shiver with delight.
Rain. Something that was a part of water. It fell down and hit her pelt. The temperature of it, cold. She loved the cold. Loved it with a passion. It was absolutely and irrelevantly perfect.
Water, she could tell, didn't like being warm. When the temperature was warm, it seemed so.. musky, around her fur. It seemed like it loathed it. Another thing she had in common with the water.
Rain was a perfect temperature. Not to hot. It would fall into the water and make it cold again, and the water would be happy. When the water was happy, Rosepaw felt happy. That she was doing her job.
The clan cats. They complained about just about anything.. God, she hated that. It didn't matter how hot or cold it was those stupid warriors would have something to complain about, whoever they were. It didn't matter. Her claws dug into the ground from annoyance, but she sheathed them as she remembered Firefly beside her.
Well, her eyes probably looked inflamed. She probably looked really pissed. Because she was. The heat was unbearable. The water didn't like it, nor did she.
Finally, she spoke. " Oh yes, I love the rain. It's so cold. . And it makes the water not as hot. I love getting my pelt wet."

" Ah, I enjoy the rain as well. I really do hate the heat. But I suppose it's better then leaf-bare when there's scarcely no prey and everyone's freezing their pelts off. . " He let the coolness of the rain soak into his fur, although only a few drops could get into his skin because of his thick pelt. He then realized that since it was raining it was gonna be harder to find some prey. Since most of the creatures they hunt like to stay in the water or in the shelter while it rains. But there are a few animals that like the rain. . but I don't think that we can find any. Since those are the ones that can blend into the scenery. Or is that some place else . . Hm. He shook his pelt slightly, getting the rain drops off of him. Because if he didn't they would make his fur matted, and he hates it when his fur becomes matted. It's worse then falling in mud. But the worse thing of all is when his fur is matted and he's covered in mud. Getting somewhat carried away with my thoughts. We were supposed to be thinking of hunting places. " So what parts of the swamp do you think we'll find the most prey? " He asked in a questioning tone, but he didn't expect her to know a good place since she was an apprentice.
