Sagestar looked back at her, then thought about another conversation topic. "Well, I don't like either the heat or the cold. I like it in the middle.. Although I do like the heat better." He shivered at the thought of being cold, and alone, with no one to talk to. It reminded him of when he was a kit, and he ventured out of the nursery.. Sagekit's eyes were wide with happiness as he found the way out of the nursery. He borrowed his head into the ground and out of the camp, running for the trees. Sagekit had never seen the territory before, his mother had always told him he couldn't. But it was cold in this terrain, so cold. He ran into the meadow and buried himself closer to the grass. It didn't even come close to warming him up. Snow began to fall around him, and he mewed helplessly. What was he supposed to do? It was so scary, just being in this meadow, with no one taking care of him, licking his fur and telling him that it was alright. He mewed louder and louder, shivering and burying himself even closer in the grass. His mews began to grow even louder, and soon, someone found him. A warrior he didn't know the name of; Sagekit still didn't remember it, And he was saved, and that's all that mattered to him when he was a kit.. Sagestar looked down at his paws. That incident had happened right there, in this part of the territory.. He shivered slightly. He hates the thought of being here, but it still is the most peaceful part of the territory. At least, this is what he believes.

Vinetangle watched Sagestar for a moment. She acknowledged his information with a light nod. She remembered suddenly when he was tiny, just a kit. She had been just barely a warrior. It was probably before she had her kits. She was in the nursery when he was still a kit. She could've been his mentor if she wasn't caring for kits when he was apprenticed. "I may not seem that old of a warrior, but I was only around 11 to 16 moons old when you were just a little scrap of fur," She informs him suddenly, purring.
She looks at him now. He seems so large and powerful compared to when he was small. That's the way all cats are. "You've come so far," She comments. He has indeed. It seemed so long ago that she had smiled sheepishly at Sagekit's mother as she named him. It had been the day of her warrior ceremony, just before it in fact. She was bored and changing the nests. There were no other apprentices. She never imagined he would be leader. Even when she heard the leader announce that he was now 'Sagepaw'. She hardly paid attention after that. She was too caught up in the drama of her own kits. Such an occurrence she regrets that it got hauntingly stuck with her for a long while.

Sagestar looked at her with a soft smile. He knew that Vinetangle was much older than him, about thirty or so moons probably, and he barely remembered when he was a kit. He believed that, at the time when he was apprenticed, she had been in the nursery. He didn't remember anything about her kits, though. He never had paid enough attention. Sagestar remembered when he was just a kit. He looked so different back then--a small and skinny looking thing with beautiful emerald green eyes and a shining black pelt. He was still handsome never the less, but as a kit he guessed some of the she-cat's would call him 'cute.' Sagestar realized that he had never had a mate, or even had been interested in one. His tail twitched. Did he want one? It had to be within the clan, and he didn't guess for anyone that he actually would be interested in. He looked back at Vinetangle. "Yes, I have changed a lot, over these many moons." He replied, looking off into the distance, then meeting Vinetangle's eyes again.

Vinetangle smiled back at Sagestar before feeling a prickling along her back and side. She turned her head to examine her form. She realized some of her fur was sticking up, messed up by the obnoxious wind gusts. She bit back a sigh. It's not really that big of a deal. She considered ignoring it. She felt annoyed by the knowledge of it being there however. It was like taunting her. 'Hmm, I'm not really doing anything so I might as well groom myself,' she decided mentally.
She twisted her head with the cat-like agility that pretty much every feline developes over moons that just comes naturally. Though more experienced cats teach the younger ones how to use this to their advantage by training them to hunt and fight efficiently. Her rough, pink tongue darts out across her black and orange pelt as she smooths down the disturbed areas. She feels more presentable now. She isn't a self-conscious or grooming obsessed type, but she doesn't like to be dirty or messy either. In fact she thinks really vain cats just need to get a life. There's no reason to be so obsessed with your appearance that it controls you to the point of it becoming ludicrous.
Her eyes flicked to Sagestar. His words flew invisibly through the air and burrowed into Vinetangle's ears. Some kind of design made her brain process the sounds as something meaningful that she knows how to interpret over many moons of hearing the sounds. Her tail twitches and she nods in agreement. She doesn't move her eyes away from his entrancing form. She roams her eyes over his pelt while he looks away. He turns back and she meets his bright green gaze. She couldn't ever think of him that way. She holds the opinion that their age difference is too great. She doesn't want a mate, not really. There is a slight desire for kits to make up for what she'd done as a younger cat, but romance is the last thing on her mind.

Sagestar notices the other cat grooming herself and smiled slightly, then looked away for a moment, then back to her. He saw her looking over his pelt, and he couldn't help but look back into her eyes. When his eyes finally found hers, she looked away. He looked away aswell, off to the other distance of the meadow. He couldn't help but think about the age difference between both him and Vinetangle. Even if he ever thought about having any sort of relationship, he was so young compared to her. No, not that she was old, it was just that he was so young for a leader, and she was a mature, adult warrior. "You deserve to be the leader more than I do." he blurted, and wanted to take back the words just as they exited his mouth. Did he want her to think he liked her? It's not that he did, but she really did deserve the spot of leader more than he did. Sagestar laid down fully on his stomach, mainly from how tired he was. It was still hot, but not as hot as it had been. The scorching sun had been covered by gentle grey clouds. They sort of looked like rain clouds. He smiled at the thought of rain.. They hadn't had any except scattered for over a moon. It would do all the clans good. He tried desperately to get off of that blurt topic, and he looked back at her like he had never said it. "Those look like rain clouds, don't they?" Although, rain clouds are usually darker.. If they carry much rain of course.

Vinetangle watched the soft clouds move across the blue sky. She wondered if they were solid or if they were like the wind; untouchable. They looked so comfortable, like fluffy, white moss floating in the air. However, it seems clouds are filled with rain. That probably means they would be soggy, actually. Her pelt prickled with excitement at the prospect of rain. The atmosphere needs some cooling down.
She flinches at Sagestar's blurt out. She gives him an odd look and lets out a slight laugh. He obviously didn't mean to say that, so she decides it would be better to not respond. She stares at the grass instead. She pretends there's something interesting about it. Grass isn't interesting at all but oh well. She stares up at the clouds instead. They are kind of gray. Maybe it will rain. Excitement goes from her pelt to her belly. It flows through her and causes her to shiver.
Her pelt fluffs out as the wind picks up. She dances on her paws from left to right. Her pads press into the soft soil. The grass brushes against her fur as the wind blows it into her body. She sweeps her tail across the ground. Soil rolls under it. She plops down in the dirt. She is suddenly relaxed by the change in the atmosphere. She lets out some light purrs of contentment. She turns her attention back on the leader. "The clouds might need to get more full and dark. I hope it rains soon,"she informs him. Her tail swishes across the dirt in long drags. After a moment it stops and lays at her side.

Sagestar yawned again and looked up at the clouds as she spoke just what he was thinking. He nodded basically, then swished his tail across the dew in the grass. He rested his head on his paws, then raised it back up. It was boring here, even though he was with someone else. He wasn't usually doing such; usually he was alone in the meadow, just staring up at the clouds. He was glad someone else was with him, though. It made him feel better. "Yeah.." He looked up at the sky again, keeping his eyes on a particularly larger cloud in the distance. "We haven't had rain for a while, have we?" he mewed, removing his head from his paws to look back at her, all of his outburst forgotten. At least he thought that she had forgotten it; it still was within his mind, and hoped that she hadn't noticed it. She had laughed; maybe it was funny to her. And it was, yes, particularly funny, because he had yelled out something that he had meant, but he didn't... mean it, like that. He shook his head at the thought and looked back at her for a response.

This was getting weary. Vinetangle's muscles ached to do something. She drew her claws through the dirt. She clenched the muscles in her legs then relaxed them. She's trying to relieve some of the building tension. She sits back up abruptly. At least she has company. She isn't sure if she feels like hunting. She considers it. She stretches and sits back up. A shiver goes through her.
It's been absolutely hot and rainless. The clouds have gotten darker. The wind is blasting harder now. She braces herself against the blasts of air. They feel good on her burned skin. "No, but I feel a storm coming,"she meows. Her mind wonders briefly to his outburst a while ago. However, it is behind them. She had said nothing then, so it would make no sense to say something now.
There is a crack of thunder in the sky. She flinches in surprise and looks up. She stands up. She is somewhat startled when rain starts pouring down. She watches as a flash of blue lightning slices through the sky. It is followed by a loud clap of thunder. She turns to Sagestar with wide eyes. The rain feels incredibly nice, but she doesn't know if it's a good idea to stay out in the open.

Sagestar just about jumped when he saw the lightning. He yowled something to her, but knew she probably couldn't hear. He cursed under his breath and looked at her in a attempt to tell her to follow him. He moved back under the trees.
Sagestar was shivering from the cold rain on his back. Sure it had felt good, but it was a bad idea to stay in the meadow. They'd get struck by lightning, for StarClan's sake.
Sagestar looked back at her, as she was following him. He eyed the she-cat expectantly as if to ask her if she was okay. Sure, he had mewed it, but the god Darned thunder was too loud for her to hear any word of what he said.
Sagestar shook his pelt off and headed somewhere else. The rain wasn't seeming to cease, so would it be a good idea to go back to camp? He looked back at her in question, mouthing, "Camp?"
Sagestar only slowed down so she could keep up, and so she could reply to his question, a slight smile on his face, the dark morning lightening with another bolt of lightning.

Vinetangle raced after Sagestar for cover. The rain poured down her pelt. It drenched her fur, and it clung to her body tightly. She probably looked shriveled. She huffed in annoyance. Her paws pounded the equally wet dirt and grass. She sprayed up mud and water as she moved quickly. Lightning lit up the meadow. She felt like the ground shook when there was another crack of thunder. The trees loomed over her and she hoped the lightning wouldn't hit any of them.
She noticed the thunder was so loud. She wondered if Sagestar had tried to say anything to her. It was likely, but there was no way to hear it at all. She could practically hear the rain pounding the ground when the sound of thunder stopped for a moment. The rain felt like ice-cold needles on her back. She brushed her flank against the trunks of the trees as she moved. She was desperate to get as far away from the painful rain as possible.
Her tail starts to drag along the ground as weariness takes over. She isn't all that old, but she isn't as young as she used to be either. In about 10-20 moons she would be too worn down to hunt and fight. It seems too close. She shivers with fear of when she'll have to be laying in the elder's den. She would be dependent on apprentice's for food and change of bedding. She will have tics! She shakes violently. She's unsure if it's from the cold or the anxiety of the future.
The rain is not going to stop anytime soon. It comes down with force. It's as if it's looking for vengeance. Although the rain is bringing life back into the hot, dried out territory, it could be deadly. She focuses her eyes on Sagestar ahead. She narrows her eyes as his mouth moves. 'He's suggesting we go back to camp,' she thinks. She nods eagerly. The rain is so relentless, that they shouldn't risk being out here for much longer.
